۞ And assuredly We vouchsafed unto Ibrahim his rectitude aforetime, and him We had ever known. 51 When he said unto his father and his folk: What are these images unto which ye pay devotion? 52 They replied, "We found our fathers worshipping them". 53 He said, "Indeed ye have been in manifest error - ye and your fathers." 54 They said, 'What, hast thou come to us with the truth, or art thou one of those that play?' 55 He said: "In fact it was your Lord, the Lord of the heavens and the earth, who created them; and I bear witness to this. 56 And [I swear] by Allah, I will surely plan against your idols after you have turned and gone away." 57 He broke all the idols into pieces, except the biggest among them so that perhaps people would refer to it. 58 (When they saw the idols in this state) they said: "Who has done this to our gods? Surely he is one of the wrong-doers." 59 They said: "We heard a youth talk about them. He is called Abraham." 60 They said, “Therefore bring him in front of the people, perhaps they may testify.” 61 They asked, "Abraham, did you do this to our idols?" 62 He answered: "Nay, it was this one, the biggest of them, that did it: but ask them [yourselves] - provided they can speak!" 63 Then they turned to one another and said, "It is you yourselves who are in the wrong," 64 But then they relapsed into their former way of thinking and said: "Thou knowest very well that these [idols] cannot speak!" 65 He said, 'What, and do you serve, apart from God, that which profits you nothing; neither hurts you? 66 “Disgrace be upon you and all the idols whom you worship instead of Allah; so do you not have sense?” 67 They said: Burn him and help your gods, if you are going to do (anything). 68 We said to the fire, "Be cool and peaceful (with Abraham)". 69 They sought to outwit him, but We made them the worst of losers. 70 And We delivered him and Lut to the land wherein We had placed Our blessings for the worlds. 71 We gave him, in excess, Isaac, and Jacob (for a grandson); and We made each righteous 72 And We made them Imams who guided (people) by Our command, and We revealed to them the doing of good and the keeping up of prayer and the giving of the alms, and Us (alone) did they serve; 73 To Lot We gave knowledge and wisdom and saved him from the people of the town who were committing indecent acts. They were certainly a bad and sinful people. 74 And We admitted him to Our Mercy, truly, he was of the righteous. 75
