Drivers of the Winds (Al-Dhaareyaat)
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
By the winds which carry dust particles, 1 And those who bear the load (of rain), 2 which then smoothly speed along, 3 And those [angels] apportioning [each] matter, 4 Undoubtedly, the promise you are given is surely true. 5 And indeed, the recompense is to occur. 6 By the heaven full of paths, 7 Lo! ye, forsooth, are of various opinion (concerning the truth). 8 He is turned away from it who would be turned away. 9 Cursed be the liars, 10 Those who have forgotten in a state of intoxication. 11 They ask: when is the Day of Requital coming? 12 (It will be) a Day when they will be tried (i.e. burnt) over the Fire! 13 "Taste your trial. This is what you sought to hasten." 14 As to the Righteous, they will be in the midst of Gardens and Springs, 15 Accepting the rewards given by their Lord; they were indeed virtuous before this. 16 they would lie asleep during but a small part of the night, 17 And ere the dawning of each day would seek forgiveness, 18 And from their properties was [given] the right of the [needy] petitioner and the deprived. 19 And on the earth there are signs for those who would be convinced. 20 And (also) in yourselves. Can ye then not see? 21 In heaven is your sustenance, and also that which you are promised. 22 And by the Lord of the heavens and the earth! it is most surely the truth, just as you do speak. 23
