Noah (Nooh)
In the Name of Allah, the Merciful, the Most Merciful
We sent Noah to his people, saying, 'Warn thy people, ere there come on them a painful chastisement.' 1 He said: "O my People! I am to you a Warner, clear and open: 2 "That you should worship Allah (Alone), be dutiful to Him, and obey me, 3 "So He may forgive you your sins and give you respite for a stated Term: for when the Term given by Allah is accomplished, it cannot be put forward: if ye only knew." 4 Noah said, "My Lord, I have been preaching to my people, night and day, 5 But all my calling doth but add to their repugnance; 6 "And verily! Every time I called unto them that You might forgive them, they thrust their fingers into their ears, covered themselves up with their garments, and persisted (in their refusal), and magnified themselves in pride. 7 Then I called them openly, 8 Then surely I spoke to them in public and I spoke to them in secret: 9 and told them, "Ask forgiveness from your Lord; He is All-forgiving". 10 He will send the heaven upon you copiously; 11 and will aid you with worldly goods and children, and will bestow upon you gardens, and bestow upon you running waters. 12 What is the matter with you that you do not want the Greatness of Allah, 13 who has created you in several stages? 14 Have you not regarded how God created seven heavens one upon another, 15 And hath placed the moon therein for a light, and hath made the sun a lamp? 16 "'And God has caused you to grow out of the earth in [gradual] growth; and thereafter He will return you to it [in death]: 17 Then He returns you to it, then will He bring you forth a (new) bringing forth: 18 And Allah hath made the earth a wide expanse for you 19 so that you walk in its spacious paths.' 20
