The News (Al-Naba')
In the name of Allah, the Compassionate, the Merciful
۞ What do they question each other about! 1 About the awesome tidings [of resurrection] 2 concerning which they are in disagreement! 3 No! They are going to know. 4 again, no indeed; soon will they come to know. 5 Have We not spread the earth like a bed, 6 And the mountains as stakes? 7 And it is We who created you in pairs. 8 And We have made your sleep as a rest. 9 And made the night a cover. 10 and We made the day for a livelihood. 11 Have We not made seven strong heavens above you, 12 and We appointed a blazing lamp 13 and have sent down from the clouds, pouring rain 14 That We may produce from it grain and vegetation, 15 and luxuriant gardens. 16 Surely the Day of Judgement has an appointed time; 17 the Day when the trumpet [of resurrection] is sounded and you all come forward in multitudes; 18 and when the sky shall be opened up and will become all doors; 19 And the mountains will have been removed away, and they will have become as mirage. 20 Behold, Gehenna has become an ambush, 21 For the exorbitant a receptacle. 22 where they shall remain for ages, 23 Neither coolness shall they taste therein nor any [thirst-quenching] drink 24 save boiling water and a stinking fluid -- 25 a meet requital [for their sins]! 26 Surely they feared not the account, 27 and they cried loud lies to Our signs; 28 We have kept account of everything in a book. 29 Taste therefore. We shall not increase you in aught but torment. 30
