Now whatever calamity may befall you [on Judgment Day] will be an outcome of what your own hands have wrought, although He pardons much; 30 You cannot challenge God on earth and you will have no one besides Him as your guardian or helper. 31 Further evidence (of His existence) are the ships which stand as mountains in the sea. 32 If He will He calmeth the wind so that they keep still upon its surface - Lo! herein verily are signs for every steadfast grateful (heart). - 33 or He may cause them to founder because of people's misdeeds, He pardons many of them, 34 And let them know, those who call Our messages in question, that for them there is no escape. 35 Whatsoever you have been given is only this life's merchandise; but what is with God is better and more lasting for those who believe and place their trust in their Lord, 36 And (for) those who avoid cardinal sins and indecencies, and forgive (even) when they are angry. 37 those who answer their Lord, establish the prayers, and their affairs are by consultation; who spend of that which We have given them, 38 And those who, when great wrong afflicts them, defend themselves. 39 The recompense of evil is evil the like of it. But he who forgives and makes amends, his reward lies with Allah. Surely He does not love the wrong-doers. 40 There is no blame against him who avenges himself after he has been wronged. 41 The way (of blame) is only against those who oppress men and wrongly rebel in the earth, for such there will be a painful torment. 42 But he who bears with patience and forgives, surely complies with divine resolve. 43
