In the Name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
CONSIDER these [messages,] sent forth in waves 1 by (the angels) as swift as blowing winds, 2 Consider these [messages] that spread [the truth] far and wide, 3 then winnow them thoroughly, 4 and then giving forth a reminder, 5 to provide excuses for some and to give warnings to others: 6 surely that which you are promised is about to fall! 7 So when the stars are extinguished, 8 And when the heaven is opened 9 and when the mountains are scattered like dust, 10 And when the apostles are gathered at their appointed time 11 For what Day was it postponed? 12 For the Day of Decision. 13 And what will make you comprehend what the day of decision is? 14 Woe on that day to the rejecters. 15 Did We not destroy the former generations? 16 and make others settle after them in their land? 17 So We serve the sinners. 18 Woe that Day to the deniers (of the Day of Resurrection)! 19 Did We not create you from contemptible water? 20 Then We lodged you in a secure place (the womb) 21 For a period (of gestation), determined (according to need)? 22 Then We facilitated (your birth). How well do We calculate! 23 Woe on that day to the rejecters. 24 Did We not make the earth a storehouse? 25 For the living and the dead, 26 And placed in it lofty and broad stablisers, and gave you sweet water to drink? 27 Woe on that Day to those that give the lie to the Truth! 28 “Move towards what you used to deny!” 29 Go to the shadow with three ramifications, 30 unshading against the blazing flame 31 which - behold! - will throw up sparks like [burning] logs, 32 Seeming like yellow camels. 33 Woe on that Day to those who reject the truth! 34 This is a day wherein they speak not, 35 And they will not be permitted to put forth any excuse. 36 Woe on that Day unto those who give the lie to the truth 37 This is the Day of Decision; We have gathered you and all the earlier men. 38 So if you have any ploy, try it against Me! 39 On that day, woe would be upon those who have rejected God's revelations! 40
