Incontestable (Al-Haaqqah)
In the Name of God, the Merciful, the Compassionate
۞ The Reality (i.e. the Day of Resurrection)! 1 What is the sure calamity! 2 What makes you to know what the Resurrection Verifier is? 3 The tribes of Thamud and 'Ad denied that disaster would strike them: 4 But the Thamud,- they were destroyed by a terrible Storm of thunder and lightning! 5 And as for 'Ad, they were destroyed by a furious violent wind; 6 Which He imposed on them for seven long nights and eight long days so that thou mightest have seen men lying overthrown, as they were hollow trunks of palm-trees. 7 Then do you see of them any remains? 8 And Pharaoh, and those before him, and the Cities Overthrown, committed habitual Sin. 9 And disobeyed (each) the messenger of their Lord; so He punished them with an abundant Penalty. 10 But We bore you away in the Ark, when the waters rose high, 11 That We might make it for you a reminder and [that] a conscious ear would be conscious of it. 12 When a single blow is blown on the Horn, 13 And the earth and mountains heaved and crushed to powder with one levelling blow, 14 Then on that Day, the Resurrection will occur, 15 And the heaven shall cleave asunder, so that on that day it shall be frail, 16 and the angels [will appear] at its ends, and above them, eight will bear aloft on that Day the throne of thy Sustainer's almightiness… 17 On that Day you shall be brought to judgment: not [even] the most hidden of your deeds will remain hidden. 18 So whoever is given his book in his right hand – he will say, “Take, read my account!” 19 Surely I knew that I should have to meet my reckoning. 20 So he shall be in a life of pleasure, 21 In high empyrean 22 its clusters nigh to gather. 23 'Eat and drink with wholesome appetite for that you did long ago, in the days gone by.' 24 But as for him whose record shall be placed in his left hand, he will exclaim: "Oh, would that I had never been shown this my record, 25 and that we would never knew what our records contained. 26 “Alas, if only it had been just death.” 27 Of no use was even my wealth. 28 My authority is gone away from me. 29 Lay hold on him, then put a chain on him, 30 And then expose him to hell-fire 31 "Then fasten him with a chain whereof the length is seventy cubits!" 32 Indeed, he did not use to believe in Allah, the Most Great, 33 Nor did he urge the feeding of the poor. 34 On this day, they will have no friends 35 and no food except pus 36 that none excepting the sinners eat.' 37
