Overwhelming (Al-Ghaasheyah)
In the name of God, The Most Gracious, The Dispenser of Grace
Have you heard the story of the overwhelming event (the Day of Judgment)? 1 On that day (many) faces will be downcast, 2 toiling [under burdens of sin,] worn out [by fear,] 3 Scorched by burning fire, 4 They will be given to drink from a boiling spring, 5 No food will there be for them but a bitter Dhari' 6 Which shall neither nourish nor avail against hunger. 7 Many a face will be in serenity on that day. 8 Glad with their endeavour (for their good deeds which they did in this world, along with the true Faith of Islamic Monotheism). 9 In a lofty garden, 10 wherein thou wilt hear no empty talk. 11 Therein is a fountain flowing, 12 therein uplifted couches 13 And cups put in place 14 and cushions ranged, 15 And silken carpets spread. 16 Will they not then consider the camels, how they are created? 17 how heaven was lifted up, 18 and on the mountains, how they are firmly set up, 19 how the earth was outstretched? 20 And so, [O Prophet,] exhort them; thy task is only to exhort: 21 You are not a warden over them, 22 But whoever turns back and disbelieves, 23 Allah will punish him with a mighty Punishment, 24 For to Us will be their return; 25 and verily, It is for Us to call them to account. 26
