Have you seen him who turns his back, 33 Who gives but little, and is niggardly? 34 What! Has he knowledge of the Unseen so that he can see? 35 Or has he not been informed of what was in the scriptures of Moses 36 And of Abraham who fulfilled his engagements?- 37 that no bearer of burdens shall be made to bear another's burden; 38 That man can have nothing but what he strives for; 39 and that his labouring shall surely be seen, 40 And afterward he will be repaid for it with fullest payment; 41 And that thy Lord, He is the goal; 42 It is He who causes laughter and weeping. 43 that it is He who causes death and gives life; 44 And that He (Allah) creates the pairs, male and female, 45 of a sperm-drop, when it was cast forth, 46 And that on Him is the bringing forth a second time; 47 and that it is He alone who frees from want and causes to possess; 48 and that He is the Lord of (the star) Sirius, 49 And that He destroyed the former 'A-ad. 50 And destroyed the tribe of Thamud, not sparing anyone? 51 And before them, the people of Noah, for that they were (all) most unjust and most insolent transgressors, 52 And the overthrown cities did He overthrow, 53 So that there covered them that which did cover. 54 How many favours of your Lord will you then deny? 55 THIS IS a warning like those warnings of old: 56 The Hour that was to come draws ever nearer. 57 apart from God none can disclose it. 58 Do you then wonder at this recital (the Quran)? 59 And do you laugh instead of weeping, 60 Will you occupy yourselves simply in merriment? 61 So bow yourselves before God, and serve Him! ۩ 62
