Unknown Person (Al-Muzzammil)
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
O you wrapped in garments (i.e. Prophet Muhammad SAW)! 1 Arise [to pray] the night, except for a little - 2 of one-half thereof - or make it a little less than that, 3 Or increase thereto. And intone the Qur'an with measured intonations. 4 Surely We will make to light upon you a weighty Word. 5 [and,] verily, the hours of night impress the mind most strongly and speak with the clearest voice, 6 whereas by day a long chain of doings is thy portion. 7 So remember the name of your Lord and devote yourself to Him with exclusive devotion. 8 The Sustainer of the east and the west [is He]: there is no deity save Him: hence, ascribe to Him alone the power to determine thy fate, 9 And bear with patience what they utter, and part from them with a fair leave-taking. 10 Leave it to Me to deal with the affluent ones who give the lie (to the Truth), and bear with them for a while. 11 With Us are Fetters (to bind them), and a Fire (to burn them), 12 and food that chokes, and grievous suffering 13 On the Day the earth and the mountains will convulse and the mountains will become a heap of sand pouring down. 14 Indeed, We have sent to you a Messenger as a witness over you, just as We sent a Messenger to Pharaoh. 15 But Pharaoh disobeyed the messenger, so We seized him with a ruinous seizure. 16 If you disbelieve, how will you guard yourself against the Day that will make children gray haired, 17 on which the heaven will split apart, and His promise is done. 18 Lo! This is a Reminder. Let him who will, then, choose a way unto his Lord. 19
