Dispatched (Al-Mursalaat)
In the Name of Allah, the Most Beneficent, the Most Merciful
CONSIDER these [messages,] sent forth in waves 1 storming tempestuously 2 and raise (clouds) and scatter them around, 3 And those [angels] who bring criterion 4 And those winds that bring down the remembrance. 5 To cut off all excuses or to warn; 6 that which you have been promised shall be fulfilled. 7 When the stars are obliterated, 8 and the sky is rent asunder, 9 And when the mountains are blown away, 10 and when all the apostles are called together at a time appointed... 11 For what day has the term [of all this] been set? 12 Upon the Day of Decision! 13 And what shall teach thee what is the Day of Decision? 14 Woe that day unto those who cry it lies! 15 Did We not destroy the men of old (for their evil)? 16 And We shall cause those of later times to follow them. 17 So We serve the sinners. 18 Ruin is for the deniers on that day! 19 Did We not create you out of a humble fluid 20 which We placed within a sure lodging 21 For a known period (determined by gestation)? 22 See that We had the power to do so. Great indeed is Our power to do what We will. 23 Ruin is for the deniers on that day! 24 Have We not made the earth to draw together to itself, 25 for the living and for the dead? 26 And made therein lofty mountains, and given you to drink of sweet water? 27 Woe on that day to the rejecters. 28 'Depart unto that which ye were wont to belie. 29 Depart into the shadow of three masses, 30 wherein there is neither shade, nor freeing from the blazing flames 31 Surely it sends up sparks like palaces, 32 as black camels. 33 Woe on that day to the rejecters. 34 That will be a Day when they shall not speak (during some part of it), 35 nor will they be permitted to offer any excuses. 36 Woe that day unto those who cry it lies! 37 This is the day of decision: We have gathered you and those of yore. 38 If now you have any strategy, use it against Me. 39 Woe that Day to the deniers (of the Day of Resurrection)! 40
