Overwhelming (Al-Ghaasheyah)
In the name of Allah, Most Gracious, Most Merciful
Has there come to you the narration of the overwhelming (i.e. the Day of Resurrection); 1 On that Day faces shall be humbled, 2 Labouring (hard in the worldly life by worshipping others besides Allah), weary (in the Hereafter with humility and disgrace). 3 They shall roast into the scalding Fire, 4 and will be made to drink from a boiling spring, 5 they shall have no food but thorns, 6 Which will neither fatten nor avail against hunger. 7 Some faces on that Day will be radiant, 8 Pleased with their striving,- 9 They will be in a lofty Garden 10 where they will hear no idle talk. 11 with a flowing spring, 12 raised couches, 13 And drinking-cups ready placed, 14 and cushions arrayed 15 and carpets outspread. 16 Look they not at the camels, how they are created? 17 And the heaven – how it has been raised? 18 And the mountains: how they were fixed? 19 and how the earth is spread out? 20 Admonish thou then; thou art but an admonisher. 21 thou art not charged to oversee them. 22 But whosoever will turn back and disbelieve 23 Then Allah will punish him with the greatest punishment. 24 Truly, to Us is their return; 25 Then it will be for Us to call them to account. 26
