The Night (Al-Layl)
In the name of Allah, the Entirely Merciful, the Especially Merciful
By the night when it covers the day, 1 And [by] the day when it appears 2 And Him Who hath created male and female, 3 surely your striving is to diverse ends. 4 Then as for him who giveths and feareth Him. 5 And testifieth to the Good, 6 We shall ease the way of fortune for him. 7 But he who does not give and is unconcerned, 8 And denies the best [reward], 9 We shall surely ease for him the Path of Hardship (the Fire). 10 and his wealth shall be of no avail to him when he perishes. 11 Indeed, Guidance is Ours, 12 And truly, unto Us (belong) the last (Hereafter) and the first (this world). 13 So, I warn you of the blazing Fire. 14 whereat none but the most wretched shall be roasted, 15 who gives the lie to the truth and turns away [from it]. 16 But save him who fears 17 [He] who gives [from] his wealth to purify himself 18 And no one has with him any boon for which he should be rewarded, 19 But only seeking the Countenance of his Lord the Most High. 20 And he is going to be satisfied. 21
