The Splitting (Al-Inshiqaaq)
In the Name of Allah, the Most Beneficent, the Most Merciful
۞ When the heaven is split asunder 1 And attentive to her Lord in fear, 2 when the earth is stretched out 3 And casts forth what is in it and becomes empty, 4 And attentive to her Lord in fear! 5 O Man! Thou art labouring unto thy Lord laboriously, and thou shalt encounter Him. 6 Then, he who is given his Book in his right hand 7 shall have an easy reckoning 8 And will return to his family in joy! 9 And as to him who shall be given his book from behind his back 10 He shall presently call for death, 11 And be thrown to scorching fire. 12 He once lived among his family joyfully; 13 Verily, he thought that he would never come back (to Us)! 14 But yes! Indeed, his Lord was ever of him, Seeing. 15 I do not need to swear by the sunset, 16 And by the night and all that it enshroudeth, 17 And by the moon when it is at the full, 18 that you will certainly pass through one stage after another. 19 Then what ails them, that they believe not, 20 When the Quran is read to them, why do they not fall to their knees? ۩ 21 Indeed, those who are bent on denying the truth reject it -- 22 But Allah has full knowledge of what they secrete (in their breasts) 23 So announce to them a painful punishment~ 24 Save those who believe and do righteous good deeds, for them is a reward that will never come to an end (i.e. Paradise). 25
