And surely, We created you (your father Adam) and then gave you shape (the noble shape of a human being), then We told the angels, "Prostrate to Adam", and they prostrated, except Iblis (Satan), he refused to be of those who prostrate. 11 Said Allah, “What prevented you, that you did not prostrate when I commanded you?” Answered Iblis, “I am better than him; You created me from fire whereas You created him from clay.” 12 He said: Then go down hence! It is not for thee to show pride here, so go forth! Lo! thou art of those degraded. 13 He said: Reprieve me till the day when they are raised (from the dead). 14 The Lord told him, "We will grant you this respite." 15 He said: because Thou hast seduced me, I will beset for them Thy straight path. 16 Then I will come upon them from the front and from the rear, and from their right and from their left. And You will not find most of them thankful.' 17 [And God] said: "Go forth from here, disgraced and disowned! [And] as for such of them as follow thee - I will most certainly fill hell with you all! 18 And (unto man): O Adam! Dwell thou and thy wife in the Garden and eat from whence ye will, but come not nigh this tree lest ye become wrong-doers. 19 Then Satan whispered to them that he might manifest unto them that which was hidden from them of their shame, and he said: Your Lord forbade you from this tree only lest ye should become angels or become of the immortals. 20 And he swore to them both: 'Surely I am your sincere adviser.' 21 So he made them fall, through deception. And when they tasted of the tree, their private parts became apparent to them, and they began to fasten together over themselves from the leaves of Paradise. And their Lord called to them, "Did I not forbid you from that tree and tell you that Satan is to you a clear enemy?" 22 They replied, "Lord, we have done injustice to our souls. If You will not forgive us and have mercy on us, we shall certainly have incurred a great loss." 23 He said: Go down (from hence), one of you a foe unto the other. There will be for you on earth a habitation and provision for a while. 24 There you will live; there you will die; from there you will be raised up again." 25
