So We saved the children of Israel from degrading suffering 30 and from the Pharaoh. He was the chief of the transgressors. 31 And We chose them aforetime above the nations, knowingly, 32 and bestowed upon them the Signs wherein lay an evident test for them. 33 Verily these! they say: 34 'There is nothing but our first death; we shall not be revived. 35 So bring our fathers (back), if you are truthful. 36 Are they better, or the people of Tubba? And those who were before them? We destroyed them; they were indeed criminals. 37 It was not in idle sport that We created the heavens and the earth and all that is between them. 38 We created them not except for just ends: but most of them do not understand. 39 Verily the Day of Distinction is the term appointed for all of them. 40 the Day when no friend shall be of the least avail to his friend, and when none shall be succoured 41 Save him on whom Allah hath mercy. Lo! He is the Mighty, the Merciful. 42
