Drivers of the Winds (Al-Dhaareyaat)
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
By those [winds] scattering [dust] dispersing 1 And (the clouds) that bear heavy weight of water; 2 And those [ships] sailing with ease 3 and those that apportion [the gift of life] at [God's] behest! 4 What you are threatened with is most surely true, 5 The Judgement will indeed take place. 6 By the heaven containing pathways, 7 surely you are deeply at variance [as to what to believe] -- 8 He is turned away from it who would be turned away. 9 Cursed be the liars, 10 Who are lost in deception. 11 'When will the Day of Judgement be' they ask. 12 (It is) the day when they will be tormented at the Fire, 13 and will be told, "Suffer the torment which you wanted to experience immediately". 14 Surely those who fear God and follow the straight path will be amidst gardens and fresh springs of water, 15 Accepting what their Lord has given them. Indeed, they were before that doers of good. 16 They were in the habit of sleeping but little by night, 17 and would ask for forgiveness at dawn, 18 And in their wealth and possessions (was remembered) the right of the (needy,) him who asked, and him who (for some reason) was prevented (from asking). 19 And on the earth are signs for the certain [in faith] 20 And in yourselves. Then will you not see? 21 In heaven is your sustenance, and also that which you are promised. 22 And by the Lord of the heavens and the earth! it is most surely the truth, just as you do speak. 23
