The Inevitable (Al-Waaqe'ah)
In the Name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
۞ When the Event will come to pass 1 There is no denying that it will befall - 2 Abasing (one party), exalting (the other), 3 This will happen when the earth is shaken, shaken 4 and the mountains crumbled 5 So that they become a scattered dust, 6 You will become three categories: 7 The People on the Right: and how fortunate will be the People on the Right! 8 And the People on the Left: and how miserable will be the People on the Left! 9 But the foremost shall be [they who in life were] the foremost [in faith and good works]: 10 (The foremost ones) will be the nearest ones to God 11 In gardens of delight; 12 A large group from the earlier generations. 13 And a few from the later generations. 14 (They will be) on Thrones encrusted (with gold and precious stones), 15 reclining upon them, set face to face, 16 Youths of never-ending bloom will pass round to them 17 With goblets and ewers and a cup of pure drink; 18 They shall not be affected with headache thereby, nor shall they get exhausted, 19 And fruits that they may like. 20 And the flesh of fowl such as they desire. 21 And (there are) fair ones with wide, lovely eyes, 22 like hidden pearls, 23 A reward for what they used to do. 24 They will not hear therein ill speech or commission of sin - 25 All talk will be sound and upright. 26 The companions of the right - what are the companions of the right? 27 They shall recline on high amidst lote trees without thorns 28 and acacias flower-clad, 29 Lengthened shadows, 30 And water flowing constantly, 31 And fruit abundant. 32 Unending, unforbidden, 33 And [with them will be their] spouses, raised high: 34 Lo! We have created them a (new) creation 35 And made them virgin - pure (and undefiled), - 36 loving and of equal age. 37 for the people of the right hand 38
