The Snatchers (Al-Naze'aat)
In the Name of Allah, the Most Beneficent, the Most Merciful
I CALL TO WITNESS those who dive and drag, 1 And by those who gently draw out the souls of the blessed, 2 And who glide with ease. 3 And who quickly present themselves. 4 And those who govern the event, 5 The day the convulsive (first blast) shatters convulsively 6 The second blowing of the Trumpet follows it (and everybody will be raised up), 7 Many a heart will flutter on that day! 8 Their eyes humbled. 9 (Now) they are saying: Shall we really be restored to our first state 10 after we have become bones and dust?" 11 They say: "Then this returning will be a dead loss." 12 But it shall be only a single scare, 13 When, behold, they will be in the (full) awakening (to Judgment). 14 Have you received the story of Moses? 15 When his Lord called him in the sacred valley of Tuwa, 16 [saying], "Go to Pharaoh, he has exceeded all bounds, 17 “Tell him ‘Do you have the inclination to become pure?’ 18 Then I will guide you to your Lord that you may come to fear Him.'" 19 Then [Musa (Moses)] showed him the great sign (miracles). 20 In response, he denied and disobeyed. 21 and then he turned back to have recourse to his craftiness, 22 So he gathered the people, and proclaimed. 23 and said, "I am your Lord All-Highest!" 24 So Allah seized him with the punishment of the Everlasting Life, and of this world. 25 Verily, in this is an instructive admonition for whosoever fears Allah. 26
