The Inevitable (Al-Waaqe'ah)
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
۞ When the great event comes to pass, 1 (and none denies its descending) 2 Abasing exalting. 3 When the earth is shaken violently, 4 And the mountains are broken down, crumbling 5 So that they become a scattered dust, 6 You shall then become three groups. 7 (First) those on the right hand; what of those on the right hand? 8 Companions of the Left, what are the Companions of the Left? 9 But the foremost shall be [they who in life were] the foremost [in faith and good works]: 10 It is they who are the close ones. 11 They are in Gardens of peace. 12 A multitude of those of old 13 but [only] a few of later times. 14 (They will be) on Thrones encrusted (with gold and precious stones), 15 Reclining thereon facing each other. 16 immortal youths going round about them 17 With cups, and jugs, and a glass from the flowing wine, 18 They shall not be affected with headache thereby, nor shall they get exhausted, 19 and such fruits as they shall choose, 20 and any flesh of fowl that they desire. 21 and wide-eyed houris 22 Like unto Pearls well-guarded. 23 A Reward for the deeds of their past (life). 24 No Laghw (dirty, false, evil vain talk) will they hear therein, nor any sinful speech (like backbiting, etc.). 25 except each other's greetings of, "Peace be with you". 26 The companions of the right - what are the companions of the right? 27 Amid thornless lote-trees, 28 And clustered plantains, 29 and amid the extended shade 30 Gushing water, 31 And fruit abundant. 32 Unending, unforbidden, 33 and upraised couches. 34 and their spouses We shall have brought them into being afresh, 35 Then We have made them virgins, 36 loving and of equal age. 37 For the sake of the companions of the right hand. 38
