A throng of the ancients 39 and also a large throng from those of later times. 40 And the fellows on the left hand; how miserable shall the fellows on the left hand be! 41 mid burning winds and boiling waters 42 And in the shadow of a burning smoke. 43 Neither cool nor beneficial. 44 Before they lived at ease, 45 and persisted in the great sin 46 It was they who said, "Shall we be resurrected after we die and have turned into dust and bones? 47 Will our ancient forefathers be resurrected too? 48 Say, [O Muhammad], "Indeed, the former and the later peoples 49 shall be gathered together to the appointed time on a known Day' 50 Then indeed you, the astray, the deniers – 51 you will indeed have to taste of the tree of deadly fruit, 52 "Then you will fill your bellies therewith, 53 and drink boiling water on top of that, 54 Drinking the way thirsty camels drink. 55 This shall be their entertainment on the Day of Judgement. 56 It is We who have created you. Why then did you not testify to the Truth? 57 Have ye seen that which ye emit? 58 Is it you who create it (i.e. make this semen into a perfect human being), or are We the Creator? 59 We have decreed death among you, and We are not to be outdone 60 that We may exchange the likes of you, and make you to grow again in a fashion you know not. 61 And assuredly ye have fully known the first production wherefore heed ye not? 62 So what is your opinion regarding what you sow? 63 Cause it ye to grow, or are We the Grower? 64 If We willed, We verily could make it chaff, then would ye cease not to exclaim: 65 Surely we are burdened with debt: 66 Rather, we have been deprived." 67 Have you thought about the water you drink? 68 Is it ye who shed it from the raincloud, or are We the Shedder? 69 If We will, We would make it bitter, why then do you not give thanks? 70 Have you ever considered the fire which you kindle? 71 Was it ye who made the tree thereof to grow, or were We the grower? 72 We have made it a reminder and an advantage for the wayfarers of the desert. 73 So glorify your Lord, the most supreme. 74
