The Snatchers (Al-Naze'aat)
In the name of Allah, the Merciful, the Compassionate
By [the winds] that pluck out vehemently 1 And who softly release the soul of the believer. 2 And by those who float in space, 3 And who quickly present themselves. 4 by those that direct an affair! 5 [HENCE, think of] the Day when a violent convulsion will convulse [the world,] 6 and will be followed by another quaking. 7 On that Day some hearts shall tremble (with fright), 8 While eyes are downcast 9 They shall say, 'What, are we being restored as we were before? 10 What! when we are rotten bones? 11 They have said, "Such a resurrection will certainly be a great loss". 12 Surely it will need but one shout, 13 and then, lo, they will be fully awakened [to the truth]! 14 Did the news of Moosa reach you? 15 His Lord called to him in the Sacred Valley of Towa, 16 (Saying:) Go thou unto Pharaoh - Lo! he hath rebelled - 17 and say [unto him,] 'Art thou desirous of attaining to purity? 18 Then I shall guide thee unto thy Lord so that thou shalt fear. 19 Moses showed him the great miracle 20 Yet he belied and disobeyed. 21 Then he turned back striving. 22 Then he gathered and cried aloud, 23 and proclaimed, and he said, 'I am your Lord, the Most High!' 24 So Allah, seized him with punishment for his last [i.e. his saying: "I am your lord, most high") (see Verse 79:24)] and first [(i.e. his saying, "O chiefs! I know not that you have a god other than I" (see Verse 28:38)] transgression. 25 Surely there is a great lesson in it for whoever would fear (Allah). 26
