He Frowned ('Abasa)
In the name of God, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
۞ HE FROWNED and turned away 1 that the blind man came to him. 2 How canst thou know, whether haply he might be cleansed, 3 or he might be mindful and good counsel might avail him. 4 As for he who thinks himself without need, 5 To him do you address yourself. 6 And you have nothing to lose if he does not become pure. 7 And as to him who comes to you striving hard, 8 and fearfully, 9 You neglect. 10 Nay, but verily it is an Admonishment, 11 So let whosoever will pay heed to it, 12 (It is) in Books held (greatly) in honour, 13 Exalted and purified, 14 by the hands of scribes 15 noble and virtuous scribes. 16 May man be slain – how ungrateful he is! 17 Of what did He create him? 18 From Nutfah (male and female semen drops) He created him, and then set him in due proportion; 19 Then maketh the way easy for him, 20 Then He causes him to die, and puts him in his grave; 21 Then when He pleases, He will raise him to life again. 22 Not one – he has not yet completed what he was commanded. 23 Let man consider his food: 24 [how it is] that We pour down water, pouring it down abundantly; 25 Then split the earth in clefts 26 And We cause therein the grain to grow, 27 and vines, and reeds, 28 olives, dates, 29 and dense orchards, 30 And fruit and grass - 31 For use and convenience to you and your cattle. 32 But when the deafening cry comes, 33 On the Day whereon a man shall flee from his brother, 34 Mother and father, 35 his consort, his sons, 36 For every man, that Day, will be a matter adequate for him. 37 Some faces will shine, 38 laughing and joyful, 39 but some faces will be covered with dust 40 and veiled with darkness. 41 those will be ones who denied the truth and were immersed in iniquity. 42
