[AND] the people of Lot gave the lie to [one of God's] message-bearers 160 When their brother Lut said unto them: fear ye not? 161 Verily I am unto you an apostle trusted. 162 "So fear Allah and obey me. 163 "No reward do I ask of you for it (my Message of Islamic Monotheism), my reward is only from the Lord of the 'Alamin (mankind, jinns and all that exists). 164 What! Of all creatures do ye come unto the males, 165 and leave your wives whom your Lord has created for you? No, but you are a transgressing nation' 166 They said, "If you do not desist, Lot, you will surely be banished." 167 He said: Surely I am of those who utterly abhor your doing; 168 My Lord, save me and my family from their evil doings." 169 Then We delivered him and all his family 170 Except one old woman who remained behind. 171 and then We utterly destroyed the others, 172 And We showered a rain upon them; so what a wretched rain for those who were warned! 173 Lo! herein is indeed a portent, yet most of them are not believers. 174 Yet surely your Lord is mighty and powerful. 175
