The Stars (Al-Najm)
In the name of Allah, the Compassionate, the Merciful
I swear by the star when it goes down. 1 Your comrade erreth not, nor is deceived; 2 nor does he speak out of his own desire. 3 It is but a divine revelation, which is revealed to him. 4 Bestowed on him by the Supreme Intellect, 5 The Strong; then the Spectacle inclined towards him. 6 the strong one who appeared on the uppermost horizon. 7 and then drew near, and came close, 8 two bows' length away, or nearer, 9 When He revealed to His votary what He revealed. 10 The heart did not lie [about] what it saw. 11 What! So do you dispute with him regarding what he saw? 12 And certainly he saw him in another descent, 13 by the Lote-Tree of the Boundary 14 Near it is the Paradise of Abode. 15 Behold, the Lote-tree was shrouded (in mystery unspeakable!) 16 The sight (of Prophet Muhammad SAW) turned not aside (right or left), nor it transgressed beyond (the) limit (ordained for it). 17 He certainly saw the greatest (signs) of the existence of his Lord. 18 Have you really considered al-Lat and al-"Uzza, 19 And Manat, the other third (of the pagan deities)? 20 Are yours the males and His the females? 21 That is indeed an unjust division. 22 They are naught but names which you have named, you and your fathers; Allah has not sent for them any authority. They follow naught but conjecture and the low desires which (their) souls incline to; and certainly the guidance has come to them from their Lord. 23 Shall man have whatsoever he wisheth for! 24 Allah's is the last and the first. 25
