Elucidated (Fussilat)
In the Name of God, the Merciful, the Compassionate
Ha. Mim. 1 A sending down from the Merciful, the Compassionate. 2 A Book the verses of which are explained in detail, the Qur’an in Arabic for people of intellect. 3 It contains glad news and warnings (for the people), but most of them have ignored it and do not listen. 4 And they say: "Our hearts are under coverings (screened) from that to which you invite us, and in our ears is deafness, and between us and you is a screen, so work you (on your way); verily, we are working (on our way)." 5 Say thou: I am only a human being like unto you; only it is revealed unto me that your God is but One God, wherefore take the straight path unto Him and seek forgiveness of Him. And woe be unto the associators. 6 Who give not the poor-rate; and they! in the Hereafter, they are disbelievers. 7 Surely those who believe, and do righteous deeds shall have a wage unfailing.' 8
