The Moon (Al-Qamar)
Allah - beginning with the name of - the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
The Last Hour draws near and the moon is split asunder. 1 And when they see a sign, they turn away and say, “Just a customary magic!” 2 They have cried lies, and followed their caprices; but every matter is settled. 3 There have already come to them Recitals wherein there is (enough) to check (them), 4 Effective wisdom; but warnings avail not. 5 Therefore turn away from them; on the day when the announcer will call towards a severe unknown matter – 6 They will come forth, with humbled eyes from (their) graves as if they were locusts spread abroad, 7 running (with their necks extended) to the Caller. The unbelievers will say: 'This is indeed a harsh Day' 8 ۞ Before these, the people of Nooh denied and they belied Our bondman and said, “He is a madman” and rebuffed him. 9 So he cried unto his Lord, saying: I am vanquished, so give help. 10 Thereupon We opened the gates of the sky for water to pour down, 11 And We made water to flow forth in the land in springs, so the water gathered together according to a measure already ordained. 12 We carried him in a well built, watertight vessel made from planks (of wood) 13 Floating under Our Eyes, a reward for him who had been rejected! 14 And We left it for a sign. Is there any that will remember? 15 How (great) was then My punishment and My warning! 16 We have made the Koran easy to remember, is there any that will remember! 17 The 'Ad had also disavowed. How was then My punishment and My commination! 18 On an unfortunate day We sent upon them a continuous violent wind 19 plucking up men as if they were stumps of uprooted palm-trees. 20 Then see how (dreadful) was My punishment after My warnings! 21 And We have indeed made the Qur’an easy to memorise, so is there one who would remember? 22
