The All Compassionate (Al-Rahman)
In the name of God, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
۞ The Merciful 1 It is He Who has taught the Qur'an. 2 Created man, 3 and has taught him articulate speech. 4 The sun and moon revolve to a computation; 5 The stars and the trees prostrate. 6 He raised the heaven on high and set the scale. 7 so that you should not transgress the measure. 8 And keep up the balance with equity and do not make the measure deficient. 9 And the earth, He has set it for living creatures; 10 with fruit thereon, and palm trees with sheathed clusters [of dates,] 11 and grain growing tall on its stalks, and sweet-smelling plants. 12 O which of your Lord's bounties will you and you deny? 13 He created man of a clay like the potter's, 14 And the jinn did He create of smokeless fire. 15 Which then of the bounties of your Lord will you deny? 16 He is Lord of the two easts and Lord of the two wests. 17 So which of the favors of your Lord would you deny? 18 He has made the two seas to flow freely (so that) they meet together: 19 but has created a barrier between them so that they will not merge totally. 20 Which favors of your Lord will you both belie? 21 From the two oceans comes pearls and coral. 22 Which then of the bounties of your Lord will you deny? 23 His are the ships, towering on the sea like mountains. 24 Which of your Lord's wonders would you deny? 25
