The News (Al-Naba')
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
۞ Of what ask they? 1 About the great tidings! 2 that they are in utter disagreement? 3 No indeed; soon will they come to know; 4 Nay, again, but they will come to know! 5 Have We not made the earth an even expanse? 6 And the mountains as stakes? 7 And We have created you in pairs; 8 And have made your sleep as a thing for rest. 9 And We made the night to be a covering, 10 and We appointed day for a livelihood. 11 And built seven strong roofs above you. 12 And We have set therein lamps glowing. 13 And sent down, from the rain clouds, pouring water 14 That We may produce therewith corn and vegetables, 15 And gardens of luxurious growth? 16 Indeed, the Day of Judgement is an appointed time - 17 On that day the trumpet will be sounded and you will come (to Us) in huge groups. 18 and when the sky shall be opened up and will become all doors; 19 And the mountains shall vanish, as if they were a mirage. 20 Lo! hell lurketh in ambush, 21 a return for the insolent, 22 In it shall they remain for a long time. 23 They will not taste therein [any] coolness or drink 24 save boiling water and a stinking fluid -- 25 Reward proportioned (to their evil deeds). 26 Surely they feared not the account, 27 and they absolutely belied Our verses, 28 And all things have We preserved on record. 29 So taste! for We will not add to you aught but chastisement. 30
