The Inevitable (Al-Waaqe'ah)
Allah - beginning with the name of - the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
۞ When the Event (i.e. the Day of Resurrection) befalls. 1 There is no denying that it will befall - 2 (it will) abase (some) and exalt (others). 3 When the earth is shaken 4 And the mountains are broken down, crumbling 5 So they will become like fine dust, scattered in a shaft of light. 6 And ye will be three kinds: 7 Then (there will be) the Companions of the Right Hand;- What will be the Companions of the Right Hand? 8 And the People on the Left: and how miserable will be the People on the Left! 9 And the forerunners, the forerunners - 10 These are they who are drawn nigh (to Allah), 11 in the Gardens of Delight, 12 A multitude of those of old 13 And a few of later ages, 14 They (will be seated) on gold-encrusted couches, 15 Reclining thereon facing each other. 16 Immortal youths will serve them 17 carrying goblets and ewers and cups filled with the purest wine, 18 (no brows throbbing, no intoxication) 19 And such fruits as they fancy, 20 and the meat of any bird that they may desire; 21 And there will be fair ones large eyed. 22 The likenesses of pearls well-protected, 23 A reward for what they used to do. 24 They will not hear therein ill speech or commission of sin - 25 Except the word peace, peace. 26 The Companions of the Right (O Companions of the Right!) 27 Among thornless lote-trees 28 And plantains laden with fruit. 29 and spreading shade 30 And water flowing constantly, 31 and fruit abounding, 32 never-failing and never out of reach. 33 and raised couches 34 Indeed We formed them (the houris and all believing women), 35 And made them virginal, 36 intensely loving and of matching age. 37 For those on the right. 38
