Nay; I swear by the moon, 32 By the night when it withdraweth. 33 and the morning when it appears, 34 surely (Hell) is one of the greatest Signs, 35 As a warning to humanity - 36 alike to every one of you, who want to go forward or hang back. 37 Every soul is pledged to what it does, 38 Except the Companions of the Right Hand. 39 In gardens, they shall ask each other 40 and will ask of the criminals, 41 "What led you into Hell Fire?" 42 and they shall reply, "We were not among those who prayed; 43 and we did not feed the poor, 44 "And we used to talk falsehood (all that which Allah hated) with vain talkers. 45 And we used to call the day of judgment a lie; 46 Till death overtook us. 47 And so, of no benefit to them could be the intercession of any that would intercede for them. 48 What is then the matter with them, that they turn away from the admonition 49 As if they were affrighted asses, 50 Fleeing from a lion? 51 Forsooth, each one of them wants to be given scrolls (of revelation) spread out! 52 By no means! Aye, they fear not the Hereafter. 53 No! Indeed, the Qur'an is a reminder 54 Then whoever wills will remember it. 55 But they [who do not believe in the life to come] will not take it to heart unless God so wills: [for] He is the Fount of all God-consciousness, and the Fount of all forgiveness. 56
