He Frowned ('Abasa)
In the Name of Allah, the Merciful, the Most Merciful
۞ HE FROWNED AND turned away, 1 when the blind man approached him, 2 You never know. Perhaps he wanted to purify himself, 3 Or that he might receive admonition, and the teaching might profit him? 4 Yet you pay attention 5 you attend to him, 6 Though it is not your concern if he should not grow (in fulness). 7 And for him who came to you striving, 8 and who has fear of God, 9 you pay him no heed. 10 Nay, but verily it is an Admonishment, 11 Let him who will, pay heed to it. 12 upon highly honored pages, 13 Exalted, pure. 14 In the hands of scribes 15 noble and purified. 16 Perish man! how ungrateful he is! 17 From what did He create him? 18 Out of a drop of sperm He creates him, and thereupon determines his nature, 19 Then made his passage easy (at birth); 20 He will then send him to death and have him laid in the grave. 21 Then, when He willed, He brought him out. (As during the night of Holy Prophet’s ascension, when all the Prophets gathered behind him in the Al Aqsa mosque in Jerusalem. Or when Allah will raise everyone on the Day of Resurrection.) 22 Nay; but he has not done what He bade him. 23 Then let man look at his food, 24 How We poured down water in torrents, 25 and split the earth, splitting, 26 And produce therein corn, 27 And grapes and herbage, 28 and olive trees and date-palms, 29 and dense-tree'd gardens, 30 And fruits and fodder,- 31 A provision for you and for your cattle. 32 AND SO, when the piercing call [of resurrection] is heard 33 on the Day when each man shall flee from his brother, 34 Mother and father, 35 his wife and his children. 36 Everyone on that Day will have affairs to keep him occupied. 37 Some faces that Day, will be bright (true believers of Islamic Monotheism). 38 Laughing, rejoicing. 39 but others will be gloomy 40 Blackness will cover them: 41 Those, they are the unbelievers, the immoral. 42
