The Thamud accused the messengers of lies. 141 When their brother Salih said unto them: fear ye not? 142 “I am indeed a trustworthy Noble Messenger of Allah to you.” 143 "So fear Allah, keep your duty to Him, and obey me. 144 "And no reward whatever do I ask of you for it: my reward rests with none but the Sustainer of all the worlds. 145 Will ye be left secure in that which is here before us, 146 amidst [these] gardens and springs 147 sown fields and palmtrees, with slender spathes. 148 "And you carve houses out of mountains with great skill. 149 So be mindful of God and listen to me. 150 “And do not follow those who exceed the limits.” 151 who do corruption in the earth, and set not things aright.' 152 They said, “You are under a magic spell.” 153 you are no different from a mortal like us. So produce a sign if you are truthful." 154 He said: This is a she-camel; she shall have her portion of water, and you have your portion of water on an appointed time; 155 "And touch her not with harm, lest the torment of a Great Day seize you." 156 But they hamstrung her, and then were penitent. 157 and torment struck them. In this there is evidence of the Truth, yet many people do not have any faith. 158 And indeed, your Lord - He is the Exalted in Might, the Merciful. 159
