Elucidated (Fussilat)
In the Name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
Ha-Mim. 1 A revelation from the most benevolent, ever-merciful, 2 The verses of this Book have been fully expounded. It is a reading in the Arabic language for the people of knowledge. 3 It contains glad news and warnings (for the people), but most of them have ignored it and do not listen. 4 And they say: our hearts are under veils from that whereunto thou callest us, and in our ears there is heaviness, and betwixt us and thee there is a curtain; work thou then, verily we are workers. 5 Say: 'I am only a mortal, like you are. To me it has been revealed that your God is One God; so go straight with Him, and ask for His forgiveness; and woe to the idolaters 6 Who give not the poor-due, and who are disbelievers in the Hereafter. 7 The righteously striving believers will have a never-ending reward". 8
