Did the news of Ibrahim’s honourable guests reach you (O dear Prophet Mohammed – peace and blessings be upon him)? 24 When they came to him and said, “Peace”; he answered, “Peace”; and thought, “These people are not familiar.” 25 Then he turned quickly to his household, brought out a fatted calf, 26 and he laid it before them saying, 'Will you not eat?' 27 Then he conceived a fear of them. They said, 'Be not afraid!' And they gave him good tidings of a cunning boy. 28 His wife came out lamenting, striking her forehead, and said: "I, am old and barren woman?" 29 They said: Thus says your Lord: Surely He is the Wise, the Knowing. 30 ۞ Said Ibrahim, “What is your task, O the sent angels?” 31 They replied, "We have been sent to a sinful people 32 so that we may bring down upon them a shower of stones of clay, 33 Marked, from before thy Lord, for the extravagant. 34 So We brought out whoever was in the cities of the believers. 35 – and We did not find there any, apart from a single house of Muslims – 36 and left therein a sign for those who fear the painful punishment. 37 In Moses, too, (there were signs). We sent him to Pharaoh with clear authority, 38 The Pharaoh and his forces turned away from him, saying, "He is either a magician or an insane person". 39 So We seized him and his armies, and threw them into the sea, for he was worthy of blame. 40 And in Ad: When We sent upon them the destructive wind. 41 It left nothing of what it came upon but that it made it like disintegrated ruins. 42 And in [the story of the tribe of] Thamud, too, when they were told, "You shall enjoy your life for [but] a little while," 43 But they revolted against the commandment of their Lord, so the rumbling overtook them while they saw. 44 Then they were unable to rise up, nor could they help themselves. 45 And the folk of Noah aforetime. Lo! they were licentious folk. 46
