Noah (Nooh)
In the name of God, The Most Gracious, The Dispenser of Grace
We sent Noah forth to his people, saying, "Warn your people before there comes upon them a grievous punishment." 1 Noah said, "My people, I am warning you plainly. 2 That you should serve Allah and be careful of (your duty to) Him and obey me: 3 so that He may forgive you some of your sins, and grant you respite until a term known [to Him alone]: but, behold, when the term appointed by God does come, it can never be put back - if you but knew it!" 4 He said, "My Lord! I have called my people night and day 5 but it has had no effect on them except to make them run away. 6 And whenever I called them, that Thou mightest forgive them, they put their fingers in their ears, and wrapped them in their garments, and persisted, and waxed very proud. 7 Then surely I called to them aloud: 8 Then verily I spake unto them openly and secretly. I also addressed them. 9 And said, 'Ask forgiveness of your Lord. Indeed, He is ever a Perpetual Forgiver. 10 He will send you abundant 11 And will give you increase of wealth and sons, and give you gardens and springs of water. 12 What aileth you that ye hope not toward Allah for dignity 13 seeing that He has created [every one of] you in successive stages? 14 See ye not how Allah hath created seven heavens in harmony, 15 And has made the moon a light therein, and made the sun a lamp? 16 And Allah has made you grow out of the earth as a growth: 17 ‘And He will then take you back to it, and again remove you from it.” 18 ‘And it is Allah Who made the earth a bed for you.’ 19 so that you might walk thereon on spacious paths.'" 20
