Unknown Person (Al-Muzzammil)
In the Name of Allah, the Most Beneficent, the Most Merciful
O thou folded in garments! 1 Keep vigil the night long, save a little - 2 half the night, or a little less 3 Or a little more, and recite the Qur'an slowly and distinctly. 4 For We are about to send down to you a message of considerable gravity. 5 Verily, the rising by night (for Tahajjud prayer) is very hard and most potent and good for governing (the soul), and most suitable for (understanding) the Word (of Allah). 6 surely in the day thou hast long business. 7 And remember the Name of thy Lord, and devote thyself unto Him very devoutly. 8 He is the only Lord, so choose Him as your guardian. 9 And be patient over what they say and avoid them with gracious avoidance. 10 Leave to Me those who belie, those who lead a life of pleasure, and bear with them yet a little while. 11 for with Us there are fetters, and a furnace, 12 And food which choketh (the partaker), and a painful doom 13 On that day, the earth and the mountains will be violently shaken, and the mountains will be turned into heaps of moving sand. 14 We have indeed sent a Noble Messenger towards you, a present witness over you – the way We had sent a Noble Messenger towards Firaun. 15 But Fir'aun (Pharaoh) disobeyed the Messenger [Musa (Moses)], so We seized him with a severe punishment. 16 Then how can you fear, if you disbelieve, a Day that will make the children white- haired? 17 the Day whose severity shall cause the heaven to split asunder? Allah's promise is ever bound to be fulfilled. 18 Verily, this is an admonition, therefore whosoever will, let him take a Path to His Lord! 19
