The News (Al-Naba')
In the Name of Allah, the Merciful, the Most Merciful
۞ Of what do they question one another? 1 (Is it) of the great announcement 2 Concerning which they are in disagreement. 3 No indeed; they shall soon know! 4 Again, by no means! anon they shall know. 5 HAVE WE NOT made the earth a resting-place [for you,] 6 And the mountains as pegs? 7 And it is We who created you in pairs. 8 And made your sleep a rest. 9 The night a covering, 10 And made the day for livelihood 11 We have built above you seven mighty heavens, 12 and We have set therein a glowing lamp. 13 And We send down from the clouds water pouring forth abundantly, 14 That We may produce therewith corn and vegetables, 15 and gardens dense with foliage. 16 Surely the day of decision is (a day) appointed: 17 the day the Trumpet is blown, and you shall come in troops, 18 And the heavens shall be opened as if there were doors, 19 And the mountains shall vanish, as if they were a mirage. 20 Indeed, Gehenna (Hell) has become an ambush, 21 a goal for all who are wont to transgress the bounds of what is right! 22 therein to tarry for ages, 23 Neither coolness shall they taste therein nor any [thirst-quenching] drink 24 Save boiling water and a paralysing cold: 25 An exact recompense (according to their evil crimes). 26 For that they used not to fear any account (for their deeds), 27 and roundly denied Our Signs as false. 28 And all things have We preserved on record. 29 'Taste! We shall not increase you except in punishment' 30
