The Embryo (Al-Alaq)
19 verses, revealed in Mecca. First revelation of the Quran before The Pen (Al-Qalam)
Allah - beginning with the name of - the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
Read with the name of your Lord Who created, 1 He created man from a clot of blood. 2 Read! Your Lord is the Most Generous, 3 Who taught by the pen, 4 taught the human what he did not know. 5 Nay, but man doth transgress all bounds, 6 As he considers himself independent! 7 truly, all will return to your Lord. 8 Have you seen the one who prohibits 9 a servant (of Allah) when he prays? 10 Have you seen if he was upon guidance 11 Or enjoined guarding (against evil)? 12 What is your opinion if he denies and turns away, how wretched will be his state! 13 Does he not know that Allah sees everything? 14 No indeed; if he does not desist, We shall drag him by the forelock; 15 his lying, sinful forelock. 16 Then, let him call upon his council (of helpers), 17 We, will call the Zabania (the harsh angels of Hell). 18 Yes indeed; do not listen to him and prostrate, and become close to Us. (Command of Prostration # 14) ۩ 19

Notes and Instructions
قراءة القرآن مترجماً إلى الإنجليزية أو أية لغة أخرى أشبه بقراءة كتب التفسير من قراءة ترجمات حرفية.
Reading the Quran translated into English, or any other language, is more like reading books of interpretation than reading literal translations.
