'Lord, open my breast,' said Moses, 25 Make my task easy 26 and loosen the knot from my tongue 27 That they may understand my speech. 28 Appoint for me a henchman from my folk, 29 Aaron, my brother. 30 Confirm my strength with him 31 and let him share my task, 32 That we may sing Your praises much, 33 And remember You much. 34 You are surely seeing us' 35 He replied: 'Moses, your request is granted. 36 "And indeed, We bestowed Our favour upon thee at a time long since past, 37 when We revealed what was revealed unto thy mother: 38 "Cast him into the ark, and cast him into the river, and let the river throw him up on the shore. An enemy of Mine and his shall take him." And I loaded on thee love from Me, and to be formed in My sight, 39 What time thy sister was walking along and saying: shall I direct you unto one who will take care of him? Thus We returned thee to thy mother that she might cool her eyes and she might not grieve. And thou slewest a person, but We delivered thee from sorrow, and We tried thee with several trials. Then thou tarriedst for years among the people of Madyan then thou camest according to fate, O Musa! 40 And I have attached thee to Myself. 41 Go you and your brother with My communications and be not remiss in remembering Me; 42 Go both of you to the Pharaoh; he has become a rebel. 43 yet speak gently to him, that haply he may be mindful, or perchance fear.' 44 They said: "Our Lord! Verily! We fear lest he should hasten to punish us or lest he should transgress (all bounds against us)." 45 He said: "Fear not: for I am with you: I hear and see (everything). 46 So, go to him, and say: 'Behold, both of us are the Messengers of your Lord. Let the Children of Israel go with us, and do not chastise them. We have come to you with a sign from your Lord; and peace shall be for him who follows the true guidance. 47 Indeed, it has been revealed to us that the punishment will be upon whoever denies and turns away.' " 48 [Pharaoh] said, "So who is the Lord of you two, O Moses?" 49 He said, 'Our Lord is He who gave everything its creation, then guided it.' 50 He said: What then is the state of the generations of old? 51 Moses replied, "The knowledge about it is with my Lord in the Book. My Lord is free from error and forgetfulness. 52 It is God who has made the earth as a cradle for you with roads for you to travel. He has sent water from the sky to produce various pairs of plants. 53 Do you eat, and pasture your cattle! Surely in that are signs for men possessing reason. 54
