The Stars (Al-Najm)
62 verses, revealed in Mecca after Absoluteness (Al-Ikhlaas) before He Frowned ('Abasa)
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
By the Star when it setteth, 1 Your companion (Muhammad SAW) has neither gone astray nor has erred. 2 Nor does he speak out of desire. 3 It is only an Inspiration that is inspired. 4 taught him by one terrible in power, 5 The Lord of Strength; so he attained completion, 6 the strong one who appeared on the uppermost horizon. 7 Then he drew near, then he bowed 8 So he was the measure of two bows or closer still. 9 And he revealed to His Servant what he revealed. 10 The (Prophet's) (mind and) heart in no way falsified that which he saw. 11 Will you then argue with him about what he saw? 12 And indeed he (Muhammad SAW) saw him [Jibrael (Gabriel)] at a second descent (i.e. another time). 13 By the Lote-tree beyond which none can pass, 14 by the Garden of [Eternal] Repose, 15 when there covered the Lote-Tree that which covered; 16 The sight did not shift, nor did it cross the limits. 17 He certainly saw the greatest (signs) of the existence of his Lord. 18 Have ye thought upon Al-Lat and Al-'Uzza 19 And Manat, the third, the other? 20 What! for you the males and for Him the females! 21 That indeed is a division unfair! 22 They are naught but names yourselves have named, and your fathers; God has sent down no authority touching them. They follow only surmise, and what the souls desire; and yet guidance has come to them from their Lord. 23 Nay, shall man have (just) anything he hankers after? 24 But unto Allah belongeth the after (life), and the former. 25

How does the memorization exercise algorithm work? At the lowest level 0, all words are visible. While the highest level 9 hides all words. What about at mid-level, like 3, for example? You might think that the algorithm hides precisely 3 out of every nine words. Not quite! At level 3, each word has a 3 out of 9 chance to hide, and 6 out of 9 to be visible. In other words, it is possible, but highly unlikely, for all words at level 3 to be hidden, or, that all of them to be visible! Also, at mid-levels, and in proportion to the difficulty level, hideouts can be partially incomplete or transparent so that words may be partially visible underneath.
