The News (Al-Naba')
Allah - beginning with the name of - the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
۞ Of what do they question one another? 1 (Is it) of the great announcement 2 Regarding which they hold different views. 3 Indeed they will come to know soon; 4 Again surely yes, they will soon come to know! 5 Have We not spread the earth like a bed, 6 and the mountains as pegs (to anchor the earth)? 7 And We have created you in pairs (male and female, tall and short, good and bad, etc.). 8 made sleep for you to rest, 9 and the night as a cover, 10 and the day as time for you to make a living? 11 And We have builded over you seven strong heavens. 12 And We made a shining lamp, 13 And have sent down from the rainy clouds abundant water, 14 That We may produce therewith corn and vegetables, 15 and thick gardens grow? 16 Indeed the Day of Decision is a time fixed. 17 the day the Trumpet is blown, and you shall come in troops, 18 The heavens will have openings like doors. 19 The mountains put in motion turning into a mirage. 20 Truly Hell is as a place of ambush, 21 A place of resort for the inordinate, 22 Living therein for ages. 23 They shall not taste therein cool nor drink 24 save boiling water and wash of the wounds; 25 a meet requital [for their sins]! 26 They indeed hoped not for a reckoning, 27 And called Our communications a lie, giving the lie (to the truth). 28 and everything We have numbered in a Book. 29 Therefore taste it now – We shall not increase anything for you except the punishment. 30
