The Splitting (Al-Inshiqaaq)
In the Name of God, the Merciful, the Compassionate
۞ When the heaven breaks apart. 1 And hearkens to its Lord and is dutiful, 2 when the earth flattens out, 3 And shall cast forth that which is therein, and shall become empty. 4 And attentive to her Lord in fear! 5 O man, indeed you have to surely run towards your Lord, and to meet him. 6 Whoever is given the Record in his right hand 7 He will be judged with an easy account 8 and he shall return to his people, joyfully, 9 But he who is given his ledger from behind his back 10 He will invoke (his) destruction, 11 And he shall roast into a Blaze. 12 Once, he lived joyfully among his family 13 Verily he imagined that he would not be back. 14 Why not? His Lord was always watching him. 15 I swear by the twilight; 16 by the night and what it covers, 17 by the moon, in its fullness 18 you shall surely ride stage after stage. 19 What is the matter with them, that they do not believe 20 And when the Quran is recited to them they do not make obeisance? ۩ 21 Nay, but they who are bent on denying the truth give the lie [to this divine writ]! 22 And Allah knoweth best what they are hiding. 23 So give them the good news of a painful chastisement, 24 except those that believe, and do righteous deeds -- theirs shall be a wage unfailing. 25
