Overwhelming (Al-Ghaasheyah)
26 verses, revealed in Mecca after Drivers of the Winds (Al-Dhaareyaat) before The Cave (Al-Kahf)
In the name of God, The Most Gracious, The Dispenser of Grace
Hath there come unto thee tidings of the Overwhelming? 1 On that day (many) faces will be downcast, 2 laboring, wornout, 3 roasting at a scorching Fire 4 They will be given drink from a boiling spring. 5 no food for them except thorny plants 6 Which neither give strength nor satisfy the hunger. 7 [And] some faces will on that Day shine with bliss, 8 well-pleased with their striving. 9 in a Garden on high, 10 Where they shall neither hear harmful speech nor falsehood, 11 Therein will be a bubbling spring: 12 And within it are couches placed on high, 13 Goblets set, 14 cushions ranged, 15 And carpets spread out. 16 Then do they not look at the camels - how they are created? 17 how the heavens are raised up high, 18 And at the mountains, how they are rooted and fixed firm? 19 how the earth was outstretched? 20 Therefore do remind, for you are only a reminder. 21 Thou art not one to manage (men's) affairs. 22 As for those who turn their back and disbelieve, 23 Allah will chastise him with the greatest chastisement. 24 Indeed only towards Us is their return 25 and verily, It is for Us to call them to account. 26
Allah the Almighty always says the truth.
