Verily We created man of potter's clay of black mud altered, 26 and the jinn created We before of fire flaming. 27 And (remember) when thy Lord said unto the angels: Lo! I am creating a mortal out of potter's clay of black mud altered, 28 When it is properly shaped and I have blown My Spirit into it, you should then bow down in prostration". 29 Therefore all the angels, each and every one of them, fell prostrate. 30 Save Iblis. He refused to be among the prostrate. 31 Said He, 'What ails thee, Iblis, that thou art not among those bowing?' 32 He replied, "I am not one to prostrate myself to a man whom You have created out of a clay of moulded mud." 33 Said Allah, “Therefore exit from Paradise, for you are an outcast.” 34 And lo! the curse shall be upon thee till the Day of Judgment. 35 He said, "My Lord, then reprieve me until the Day they are resurrected." 36 [Allah] said, "So indeed, you are of those reprieved 37 Till the Day of the Time known. 38 He said: My Lord! because Thou hast made life evil to me, I will certainly make (evil) fair-seeming to them on earth, and I will certainly cause them all to deviate 39 [all] save such of them as are truly Thy servants!" 40 He (Allah) said: 'This is for Me the Right Path 41 Verily as for My bondmen, no authority shalt thou have over them, except the erring one who follow thee. 42 And indeed hell is the promise for all of them. 43 It hath seven gates, and each gate hath an appointed portion. 44
