The people of Al-Hijr denied Our apostles; 80 And We gave them Our Signs, but they were averse to them. 81 They used to hew dwellings in the mountains to live in security. 82 So the rumbling overtook them in the morning; 83 And that which they were wont to count as gain availed them not. 84 And We have not created the heaven and the earth and that which is in between them save with a purpose. And verily the Hour is surely coming; so overlook thou with a seemly overlooking, 85 Your Lord is certainly the All-knowing Creator. 86 We have indeed given you the seven oft-repeated (examples), and the majestic Qur'an. 87 Do not even cast your eyes towards the worldly goods We have granted to different kinds of people, nor grieve over the state they are in, but turn your loving attention to the believers instead, 88 And proclaim, “Indeed I, yes I, am the clear Herald of Warning.” 89 (Of a punishment) Like the one We sent down upon the dividers. 90 (So also on such) as have made Qur'an into shreds (as they please). 91 Now by thy Lord, We shall surely question them all together 92 for what they have done 93 So proclaim that which thou art commanded, and withdraw from the idolaters. 94 We suffice you against those who mock, 95 Those who adopt, with Allah, another god: but soon will they come to know. 96 And well do We know that thy bosom is constricted by the [blasphemous] things that they say: 97 So glorify the praises of your Lord and be of those who prostrate themselves (to Him). 98 Worship your Lord till the certainty (death) comes to you. 99
