The Moon (Al-Qamar)
55 verses, revealed in Mecca after The Comet (Al-Taareq) before S (Saad)
In the Name of Allah, the Merciful, the Most Merciful
The hour drew nigh and the moon did rend asunder. 1 But if they [who reject all thought of the Last Hour] were to see a sign [of its approach,] they would turn aside and say: "An ever-recurring delusion!" 2 And they denied and followed their inclinations. But for every matter is a [time of] settlement. 3 And there have come to them such tidings as contain a deterrent -- 4 Wisdom consummate. But warnings avail not. 5 Therefore turn away from them; on the day when the announcer will call towards a severe unknown matter 6 They will come forth,- their eyes humbled - from (their) graves, (torpid) like locusts scattered abroad, 7 running with outstretched necks to the Caller. The unbelievers shall say, 'This is a hard day!' 8 ۞ Before them the People of Noah rejected (their messenger): they rejected Our servant, and said, "Here is one possessed!", and he was driven out. 9 So he prayed to his Lord: "I am helpless, deliver me." 10 Thereupon We opened the gates of the sky for water to pour down, 11 And We caused the earth to gush forth with springs, so the waters met (and rose) to the extent decreed. 12 But We bore him on an (Ark) made of broad planks and caulked with palm-fibre: 13 Floating under Our Eyes, a reward for him who had been rejected! 14 We have left it as a sign. Is there any that will remember? 15 So how did My punishment turn out, and My threats? 16 Now We have made the Koran easy for Remembrance. Is there any that will remember? 17 'Ad (people) belied (their Prophet, Hud), then how (terrible) was My Torment and My Warnings? 18 For We sent against them a furious wind, on a Day of violent Disaster, 19 Plucking out men as if they were uprooted stems of date-palms. 20 So how did My punishment turn out, and My warnings? 21 We have made the Koran easy to remember, is there any that will remember? 22
