The Splitting (Al-Inshiqaaq)
Allah - beginning with the name of - the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
۞ When the sky has split [open] 1 and obeys its Lord as it must, 2 And when the earth is spread out 3 And casts forth what is within it and becomes (clean) empty, 4 And hearkens to (the Command of) its Lord,- and it must needs (do so);- (then will come Home the full reality). 5 O man, you are striving unto your Lord and you will meet Him. 6 Then whoso is given his account in his right hand 7 Will have an easy reckoning, 8 And will return unto his folk in joy. 9 But he who is given his ledger from behind his back 10 He will invoke (his) destruction, 11 and will enter the Blazing Fire. 12 Verily he was among his people joyous. 13 Verily he imagined that he would not be back. 14 Nay, nay! for his Lord was (ever) watchful of him! 15 So by oath of the late evening’s light. 16 And [by] the night and what it envelops 17 And the moon when at the full, 18 [That] you will surely experience state after state. 19 What is the matter with them? Why do they not believe? 20 And when the Qur'an is read to them, they fall not prostrate, ۩ 21 Yea those who disbelieve belie. 22 and God knows very well what they are secreting. 23 So give them tidings of a painful punishment, 24 Except those who believed and did good deeds – for them is a reward that will never end. 25
