Overwhelming (Al-Ghaasheyah)
26 verses, revealed in Mecca after Drivers of the Winds (Al-Dhaareyaat) before The Cave (Al-Kahf)
In the Name of Allah, the Most Beneficent, the Most Merciful
Has the news of the overwhelming event reached you? 1 Faces on that day humbled, 2 Toiling, weary, 3 They will [enter to] burn in an intensely hot Fire. 4 Made to drink water from the boiling hot spring. 5 no food for them except thorny plants 6 Which neither nourishes nor avails against hunger. 7 (Other) faces, that Day, will be joyful, 8 Well-pleased with their endeavour, 9 In a high Garden. 10 wherein they shall hear no vain talk. 11 There is a stream of running water in it; 12 raised couches, 13 And drinking-cups ready placed, 14 and cushions arrayed in rows, 15 And carpets spread out. 16 What, do they not reflect upon how the camel was created? 17 how heaven was lifted up, 18 And at the mountains - how they are erected? 19 And the earth, how it is made a vast expanse? 20 So remind them (O Muhammad (Peace be upon him)), you are only a one who reminds. 21 You are not a dictator over them. 22 However, he who turns away and disbelieves - 23 Allah will punish them with the greatest punishment. 24 For to Us will be their return; 25 Then verily, for Us will be their reckoning. 26
God the Almighty always says the truth.
