(The tribe of) A’ad denied the Noble Messengers. 123 When their fellowman Hud said to them, “Do you not fear?” 124 Verily I am unto you an apostle trusted. 125 So fear God and listen to me. 126 I ask no recompense of you for it. My reward is due from none but the Lord of all the worlds. 127 Do you build over each high place a sign to amuse yourselves! 128 and do you take to you castles, haply to dwell forever? 129 When you attack, you attack as tyrants do. 130 Have fear of God and obey me. 131 Have fear of the One who has bestowed upon you all that you know. 132 "Freely has He bestowed on you cattle and sons,- 133 gardens and fountains. 134 Indeed, I fear for you the punishment of a terrible day." 135 They replied, "It makes no difference to us whether you preach or do not preach, 136 "This is no other than a customary device of the ancients, 137 They rejected him and We destroyed them. 138 And they belied him; so We destroyed them. Verily herein is a sign, yet most of them are not believers. 139 And verily! Your Lord, He is indeed the All-Mighty, the Most Merciful. 140
